Learning in the Kitchen

We had a special treat today in our language studies – we made banana bread! It all started by reading a cute little story from Highlight’s magazine about making banana bread. The kids love to help in the kitchen and we had a bunch of bananas turning brown so this was a perfect opportunity! To keep the mess to a minimum we mashed our bananas in gallon size plastic baggies. The kids had a blast squishing them all up! We took turns measuring, pouring, and mixing and in the end we made a delicious snack for break time! After we had enjoyed our yummy snack we came up with adjectives to describe it and practiced our handwriting by copying them down.

In our Bible studies we are learning about Creation. I found this cute little cut and paste activity over at www.BibleStoryPrintables.com and it was FREE! The kids put the days of creation in order as we reviewed.

We also took a visit to the Statue of Liberty… virtual of course! In social studies we are learning about American symbols. After reading about Lady Liberty we hopped online and took a tour. You can too! Just go to http://www.nps.gov/featurecontent/stli/eTour.htm

All of today’s learning made us hungry! I gave the kids a special treat I had prepared the other night.

Another day of home schooling under our belts! Until tomorrow,
